spent her childhood in Stony Brook, New York as the youngest of three children who all grew up to have careers in writing and book publishing. She enjoys writing both fiction and nonfiction and has written several books of historical fiction for young adults. Some of Katherine’s other interests include painting (she occasionally contributes illustrations to her books), astronomy, history, bird watching, and the environment.
